Went out for wings at MANHATTEN’S(1) again tonight with Trish, Timmy G, The Body(2) and Georges. Downed 20 cajun no problem.

Hockey is well underway and so are the Leafs. That’s my “first week” prediction. Leafs for the cup(3), why you ask… MODIN. Playing on the Sundin line.

Tomorrow I dig a trench to restore power to the garage for the winter. Over the years the cable has gotten so bad that finally it’s dead. sounds like a great day.

Timmy G’s been busy on his site with some new trivia and a new poll check that out too.

(1) – This place used to be on Pembina Hwy where you would turn to get on to Grant Ave. There is a Smitty’s there now. We were a part of the “Mug Club” there and had access to $0.25 cent wings all week, every week. We would come in and the waitress would bring out the mugs (PEEVER #11, BIG GUY #7, TIMMY G, MOIST TOWELETTE, EI EI O). Timmy used his napkin to clean BBQ sauce off his wings and the cajun was a favorite as well. I tried to recreate it at home and got close with some butter, Franks Hot, salsa, and brown sugar.

(2) – Jesse Peters for time.

(3) – See, I liked the Leafs 30 years ago too when Mats Sundin was captain and Modin was lighting it up.

OTD – On this day…

I was very close to not renewing the ORG this year. It’s about $250/year to keep this site just sitting here doing nothing. But then I started looking back at some old posts and without a proper external backup I would hate lose any of the content here. Too many memories to lose.

I have been thinking about why I am so attached to it and how to keep it alive. I want to write more but most of my life and what I would write about is family. As the girls get older they are more private and don’t want their lives out there on the web, no matter how proud a moment it may be for me. I can’t blame them with all the crazies out there.

I was looking back at a binder I have that is an actual back up of the old peever.org from back in the day. It spans from 1998 (age 24) to about 2004 (28) and it’s really interesting to look back on almost 30 years. I am going to start sharing some old posts from back in the day to see what life was like “on this day”. Here is the first one:

You may have noticed “The Peters Watch” that has been added to the DATES section. This is for my friend Jess who is playing for the Portage Terriers this year. We (the buds) are extremely proud of his dedication and will monitor his performance throughout the year. This weekend was more than eventful.

Friday night we spent another good one at JD’s in honor of the “out-of- towners”. Great to see the guy’s again…in fact I think I saw more of the guy’s than ever this weekend. By the end of the night we had at least 10 naked drunks in the ol’ hot tub. I even think I saw a bunch of naked people standing on the fence waving at cars. I think the final tally was 213+ empties with one remaining OV that was accidentally left on the lawn unopened.(1)

Saturday I helped Mike move a few more things to his new HOUSE and then went for some wings and a movie with Lissa (Paul’s wife), Trish and the guy’s. I was really tired from the previous night and retired home at about 1am. At about 1:15am I got the call from Bry to go to Oktoberfest for the last hour. Knowing that I only had one more day with these guys I went without hesitation. I played designated driver and got in at 5am.

Sunday I went to Al’s soccer game. They lost to the Chilians 4-2. We ended up going to Kris’s(2) place to watch wrestling ending the night and the weekend with the kind of painful goodbyes I’m getting so used to(3).

(1) – I vaguely remember this night as one of the most epic party’s we ever had at JD’s. I am pretty sure this was night Steve put on Diane’s bathing suit and she slipped while bringing us sandwiches, that we didn’t hesitate to eat of the wet decking. I am also pretty sure JD made us his classic breakfast in the morning because that is the class act that he was.

(2) – This might have been before Paul dubbed her “Puncher”. It was also during this time that Timmy G dubbed Ernie “Big Poppa Pump”.

(3) – This is when Paul left to go back to England to open up the first Subway there.
